Preservation Sacramento Home Tour

I had a wonderful day volunteering and attending the home tour in the Alkali Flats neighborhood of Sacramento. I met interesting and personable people and got to participate in a community event, which I have sorely missed while traveling with this job. In the featured photo is our dinner following the tour with (from left to right) is Sara, Greg, Michael, me, and Maggie, my coworker. Greg and Michael just moved to Sacramento in April from L.A. Maggie is from the L.A. area, as well, so they knew the same areas and had lots to talk about.

Michael and Greg were also docents at my favorite house on the tour designed by Rudolph Herold, built in 1904 (605 10th Street, Sacramento, CA). The beautiful Arts and Crafts home has shingled siding and Honduran mahagony ceilings and paneling throughout the interior. There are Prairie style features on the interior, as well (see the staircase photo).
